Desertinho Atlantic Whale observations is located in Driebergen-Rijsenburg, municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug (the Netherlands). Annually Desertinho participates in various international Whale Photo-ID projects on the Atlantic Ocean and the associated seas.
Since 2012, Desertinho has been monitoring all large whale species passing through the North Sea on a daily basis. Whale species that are passing throughout the North Sea are: Sperm Whales (Physeter macrocephalus), Humpback Whales (Megaptera novaeangliae), Fin Whales (Balaenoptera physalus), and Minke Whales. I share my data and information together with other whale researchers worldwide.
Desertinho has professional experience with whale observations together with professional cameras with GPS, and a large international network. Our Whale Photo-ID projects provides important information about whale migration routes, age, behavior, and feeding patterns. If you have photos of the tail fin, dorsal fin, or specific spots and scars of whales, please send them to Desertinho. When there is a “Whale match” within one of our databases we will let you know.

Desertinho Atlantic Whale observations is gevestigd in Driebergen-Rijsenburg, gemeente Utrechtse Heuvelrug (Nederland). Desertinho werkt jaarlijks mee aan diverse internationale Walvis Foto-ID projecten op de Atlantische Oceaan en de daarbij behorende zeeën.
Sinds 2012 monitort Desertinho dagelijks alle grote walvis soorten die de Noordzee passeren. Voorbeelden van walvissoorten zijn: potvissen (Physeter macrocephalus), Bultruggen (Megaptera novaeangliae), gewone vinvissen (Balaenoptera physalus), en dwergvinvissen. Wij delen onze data en informatie met diverse andere walvis onderzoekers wereldwijd.
Desertinho heeft professionele ervaring met walvis observaties, professionele camera’s met GPS, en beschikt over een groot internationaal netwerk. Onze walvis Foto-ID projecten geven belangrijke informatie over walvis migratie routes, leeftijd, gedrag, en voedingspatroon. Heb je foto’s van de staartvin, rugvin, of specifieke vlekken of littekens van walvissen stuur deze dan naar Desertinho. Zodra er een “Walvis match” is met de gegevens uit een van onze databases zal ik dat laten weten.
